KAYLA DAILEY
I began my equestrian journey in 2006, initially focusing on English riding with a bit of Western. As I grew older, I started competing in local pleasure shows and became involved with a local 4-H club. I thoroughly enjoyed the show ring but was never content to settle on one discipline. I expanded my knowledge by taking dressage lessons in Golden and Pine, reining lessons in Conifer, and a few Hunter Jumper lessons along the way. While continuing to show in Pleasure, I acquired a new pleasure horse and decided I wanted to explore more.
My desire to expand my experience led me to volunteer at a horse rescue in Conifer, where I worked with horses whose backgrounds were often unknown. This experience taught me to read the horses’ body language, respond to their cues, and trust their instincts, which I found immensely rewarding. Unfortunately, the rescue closed shortly after I adopted a red dun appaloosa colt, whom I named Red Feather—this name became a significant part of my journey.
Seeking further growth, I began competing in local barrel races on a leased horse, which I quickly grew passionate about. I sold my pleasure horse and purchased a barrel horse. During this time, I also began working at a barn in Morrison, where I learned to train and ride gaited horses and had the opportunity to be the first to ride a couple of green colts.
Ultimately, I returned to my previous facility, where I began teaching lessons. This role allowed me to combine my passion for horses with my desire to help others learn and grow alongside their horses. More recently, I have moved to Bibber Creek Stables, where I continue teaching, as well as at Grace Mountain Ranch, further expanding my ability to share my knowledge and experience with both horses and riders.
